With charisma, one can attract, charm, and influence others. You don’t need to be a celebrity to be charismatic. It is not some magical skill that only a few gifted possess. It is a skill that you and I can cultivate!

At the core of charisma are just three qualities; Self Confidence, Optimism, and Interest in others.

Self-Confidence: This is the foundation of charisma. It comes from your accomplishments. Knowing that you always keep your word, deliver on commitments, makes you, respect yourself. The more you respect yourself, so do others. This may be a lot of work, but it is well worth the effort!

Optimism: Optimism is about how hopeful & confident you are vis a vis future. The reality is the glass is never full. You can’t change that. What you can change is the way you look at the glass; as half full or as half empty. Let us take a disagreement at work. If you are an optimist, you will interpret the difference as arising from well intention-ed worries, and you would approach resolution accordingly.

Your approach to resolving the disagreements will influence others to view you!

Interest in Others: When you take an interest in others, you make them feel valued. And, they value you in turn. This is easy to do. All you got to do is LISTEN, with your heart and ears open. Be fully present. Shut out all distractions. Ask questions. Seek clarifications. Let them know, you have heard them!

Of course, there is more to charisma. The trick is to build these three core skills, first. The rest will follow.
